The organisers of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games have selected the first round of people who will carry the Olympic flame through France. There will be a total of 69 eight-minute relays for each team, led by a well-known captain. A number of French sports stars have been chosen. Pascal Gentil, double bronze medallist in taekwondo (in 2000 and 2004) and Paris 2024 ambassador for Groupe ADP, is one of the lucky few. “It's a great source of pride and an immense privilege”, said the champion, who will carry the precious flame on 24 July in Gennevilliers where he will lead a 24-strong team comprising Paralympic champions, Olympic medallists, volunteers, judges and referees. 3,000 people will take part in group relays organised by sports federations between 8 May, when the flame arrives in Marseille from Greece on board the Bélem, and 26 July, the day of the opening ceremony in Paris.

On 9 January, the operational and functional teams working in the Paris-Charles de Gaulle Terminals Division's western perimeter met for a day of work and discussion on the 2024 roadmap. According to Baptiste Danon, Western Operations Manager for the Terminals Division, “the aim of the day was to offer transparency to our teams in the run-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the reopening of Terminals 2A and 2C, scheduled for May.” This is good news in terms of capacity, and will enable the entire western perimeter (T1, T3, 2ABCD) to resume operations.

PARIS-ORLY: A NEW REFRIGERATION PLANT IN SERVICE

Last November, after three years of work, the development project for the new refrigeration plant at Paris-Orly came to an end. With a capacity of 18 megawatts, it will produce enough chilled water for the air conditioning, heating and ventilation of the airport's buildings and the cooling of the airport's technical processes whilst also improving energy efficiency. It will result in 10% less electricity being used in 2024. In addition, this new plant uses a refrigerant with very low global warming potential, thereby contributing to the objectives of the Pioneers 2025 roadmap for a sustainable airport.

VISTARA TO BEGIN OPERATING
AT PARIS-CHARLES DE GAULLE

Vistara has announced the launch of five weekly flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Mumbai from 28 March. This new long-haul service will be in addition to the five weekly flights it operates between Paris and New Delhi, and is the third long-haul route from the Indian city (services already available to London and Frankfurt). This decision marks Vistara's strategic desire to increase the number of connections between Europe and India and to position Mumbai as a key hub for international air transport.

A WOMAN AT THE HELM OF JAPAN AIRLINES

Japan Airlines has appointed Mitsuko Tottori, aged 59, as its new president, despite the fact that promotions of women to senior leadership positions are still rare in large Japanese companies. She will take up her new position on 1 April. Mitsuko Tottori joined the airline in 1985 as a flight attendant, and began to occupy positions of responsibility in 2005.

END OF THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN AIR FRANCE-KLM AND CMA-CGM

Air France-KLM and CMA-CGM have announced the end of their commercial partnership. This partnership has enabled the two companies to jointly operate the all-cargo aircraft of their respective airlines. The agreement will expire on 31 March. CMA-CGM Air Cargo pilots have expressed their “deep concern”. CCAC, which employs just over 120 pilots, currently operates five aircraft (three Airbus A330s and two Boeing 777s) based at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle.
