P2 CAR PARK AT PARIS-ORLY: FIRST TERMINAL VALET SERVICE

From the end of November, the P2 car park at Paris-Orly will have more than 3,000 additional spaces available close to the terminal, thanks to the introduction of the new valet service, located on Level -2. “This service is widely used at British airports and at Schiphol in the Netherlands, where it accounts for almost half of all terminal parking spaces. This service will help to optimise and increase capacity without the need for new infrastructure”, explains Laure Gardebled, Key Accounts Manager for the Customer Division. The service can be booked via the Paris Aéroport website. Customers enter their reservation code at the entrance to the P2 car park and then again to enter the valet reception area. After confirming any existing damage to the vehicle, they hand their keys over to the valet team and enter the terminal. Vehicles are then taken to the PECO car park, which has been converted into a storage area, where they are parked close together so as to increase capacity. Vehicles are driven back to the P2 valet reception area on the day of the customer's return. “This new project is a real challenge for our service provider GSF, with whom we have been working closely for several months to achieve our service quality objectives”, added Magali Fruitier, Contract Manager within the Passenger Process Division.

Ravinala Airports has confirmed its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development, winning the “Environment and Sustainable Development” award at the ACI-Africa conference in Dakar in October. This prestigious award is in recognition of the actions carried out as part of the management of Nosy Be Fascene International Airport, particularly in terms of waste reduction and energy and water saving, with priority given to the use of renewable energies. Through its Quality and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Division, the company introduced an active environmental policy some time ago, as part of its biodiversity conservation programme (mangrove reforestation and protection), and it continues to take steps to reduce its carbon emissions.

AIRBUS REPORTS IMPROVED DELIVERY TIMES

With 559 aircraft delivered since the start of the year, the Toulouse-based aircraft manufacturer has announced an improvement in its delivery time, as well as a resumption of production in spite of supply difficulties, notably with engine manufacturer Safran. Airbus is responding to growing demand from airlines looking to modernise their fleets while simultaneously reducing fuel costs and CO2 emissions.

ARE FRENCH AIRLINES HEADING FOR A SLOWDOWN IN DEMAND IN 2024?

While 2023 was a good year overall for French airlines, thanks to buoyant demand coupled with a sharp rise in airfares, the outlook for 2024 is more uncertain and the first signs of a slowdown are perceptible. This is due to a reduction in business travel, inflation in maintenance and fuel costs, and the roll-out of the new 4-Flight air traffic management system.

RECORD QUARTERLY PROFIT FOR LUFTHANSA

Lufthansa, Europe's leading air transport group, posted a net profit of €1.2 billion for the third quarter, up 47% year-on-year and the second best quarter in its history. This is due to an upturn in demand, greater capacity in terms of seats, and average booking prices remaining high. On the other hand, the rise in the price of jet fuel will see the group’s annual bill increase by half a billion euros compared with its forecast.

DRASTIC REDUCTION IN TRAFFIC AT SCHIPHOL

Summer 2024 promises to be a difficult one for airlines at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Airlines without historic rights at the airport will not be allocated slots for the 2024 summer season, while those holding said rights will need to reduce their portfolio by 3.1%. These restrictive measures are part of a nearly 10% reduction in aircraft movements imposed by the Dutch government to combat noise pollution.
