PARIS-CHARLES DE GAULLE EASTERN BYPASS COMPLETED

9 km of dual carriageway motorway (A104), 7 km of departmental roads (RD212), 8 bridges, the involvement of nearly 80 companies, and approximately 100 hectares of environmental areas: the Paris-Charles de Gaulle Eastern Bypass project has come to an end after 4 years of construction work. The aim is to improve traffic flow, open up the area to the north-east of the Paris airport and stimulate the economic development of the region. As a result, accessing Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport from the west will be easier thanks to improved accessibility from the east. Particular attention has been paid to the protection of animal and plant species that are favourable to biodiversity. The bypass is expected to be fully open to traffic by 15 November 2023, with an expected daily flow of 40,000 vehicles. This major structural project for the region was co-financed by the Île-de-France region, the French government, the Val-d'Oise and Seine-et-Marne local councils, the Roissy Pays de France urban community and Groupe ADP, which has contributed €12.8 million to the project.

FOR GROUPE ADP

On 24 October at STATION F in Paris, the “France Tourisme Tech” programme was launched, during which Groupe ADP witnessed 3 startups whose projects it supports receive awards: Alltheway, Outsight and Wintics. As part of this event, Alban Negret, Head of the Innovation department, took part in a round table discussion with a number of committed investors on the theme of “attractiveness and tourism”. The “France Tourisme Tech” programme was created in July by the French government, represented by Olivia Grégoire, Minister Delegate for Small and Medium Enterprise, Trade, Craft and Tourism, with a view to supporting French startups on the international tourism scene.

PARIS-LE BOURGET FOCUSES ON GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

Paris-Le Bourget Airport took a major step forward in terms of carbon neutrality on 27 October.
Edward Arkwright, Deputy CEO of Groupe ADP, and Sébastien Couturier, Managing Director of the Airport, inaugurated the works to connect the airport to the Dugny and Le Bourget district heating network, supplied with renewable energy from geothermal sources, alongside the Coriance group and the Établissement Public Territorial Paris Terres d'Envol. The project involves the construction and 30-year operation of a geothermal borehole that will tap into a local resource, the Dogger, which incorporates a layer of hot water at a depth of 2,500 metres. A 2.5 km network dedicated to Paris-Le Bourget will be built to supply a number of buildings, including the Paris Air and Space Museum. As a result, once the first phase of the project has been completed in 2026, more than 60% of businesses operating at the airport will be supplied with low-carbon thermal energy, with stable tariffs. A second phase will see all existing businesses and new real estate developments connected by 2030.

This is a first! Groupe ADP has delivered a Schörling snow plough to the airside operational teams at Batumi Airport in Georgia, operated by TAV Airports. This delivery was made as part of the Airport Services programme, which recovers and resells equipment that has been taken out of service at our three airports, with priority given to Group airports and other airports abroad. “We've been working on this deal since February, and we're very proud of it, because it required a lot of effort in terms of reconditioning, dismantling of accessories, manufacturing of customised parts, transport, reassembly and resetting of the vehicle”, explains Xavier del Valle, Head of the Airport Market Second Hand Equipment programme for the General Resources, Supply Chain & Procurement Division. At the end of October, Claude Candelier, a trainer within the Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airside Operations and Facilities Division, travelled to Batumi to train the teams in the use of the vehicle.

TAP PRIVATISATION: VETOED BY THE PORTUGUESE PRESIDENT

Portugal’s President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has vetoed the decree required for the privatisation of TAP Air Portugal, asking the government for clarification on the process. AIR CANADA REPORTS AN EXCELLENT THIRD QUARTER

Air Canada was right to predict “high demand for travel” for the rest of the year, as it has “performed strongly in the third quarter”, with even better results than the previous quarter. The Canadian airline recorded a net profit of 1.25 billion dollars for this period. Air Canada carried 12.6 million customers during the peak summer period.

A RENOVATED ROAD THANKS TO THE PARIS-CHARLES DE GAULLE TARMAC

This is a first in France! A road project was carried out with 60% recycled materials, part of which came from work on the runways at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport. This high environmental performance (HPE) coating, still experimental, which was laid south of Seine-et-Marne, helps reduce the carbon footprint of the site. Its sustainability will be studied over the next five years.
