The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will see some twenty celebration sites set up in central Paris. For this global sporting event, every arrondissement in the capital (with the exception of the 7th) will have a fan zone, in parks, squares and outside town halls. These areas will be open to the public free of charge, offering the chance to watch the Games on a big screen, eat and drink and even take part in sporting and cultural activities. Two other exceptional fan zones will be set up; at the Parc de la Villette, dedicated exclusively to the French team, and at the Trocadéro, where the medallists will be honoured each day at the end of the afternoon.

GLORYA, A PROJECT SUPPORTED BY THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION

Paris-Orly is to be equipped with a growing number of airside charging stations thanks to the support of the European Commission, which is co-financing 30% of the GLORYA project. Credit: Sébastien Aubry for Groupe ADP.

This is a significant commitment from the European Commission in favour of Paris-Orly. The airport is to receive €14.6 million in European subsidies to enhance electrical robustness and accelerate the decarbonisation of airside operations, as part of the GLORYA (Green electrification ORLY airside) project. Thanks to this project, executed in conjunction with five partners (Air France, Alyzia, Aviapartner, CPC Aéronautique and GEH), more than 350 electric charging stations will be installed airside for ground handling vehicles, electric buses and light vehicles. In addition, air preconditioning equipment will be rolled out across the airport, along with converters to supply electricity to aircraft parked remotely. “The European Commission has set us a timetable for the installation of this equipment. Bringing this project to fruition will enable us to take a decisive step forward in the decarbonisation of Paris-Orly's activities” , explains Jason Mahé, GLORYA Project Coordinator for Paris-Orly's Airside Operations and Facilities Division (ORYR).
