Good news for fluidity at border control. 61 additional nationalities of passengers with biometric passports are now eligible for the Parafe system in Departures, in addition to all EU countries, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway. In Arrivals, five new countries have been added to the list, as a result of the decree signed by the French government on 30 June and gradually applied from 4 July at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and by summer 2024 at Paris-Orly, in time for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This is a welcome update at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, coinciding with strong growth in international traffic at the start of the summer season. The entire passenger route has been redesigned following close collaboration between the Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Communications, Operations, Information Systems and Customer divisions. To make the new system easier to understand and help passengers find their way around, new signage has been installed, including a world map before border control, a welcome message for passengers, totem stands at the entrance to queuing lanes, and screens above the Parafe gates. A communication campaign is currently being rolled out on social media, the Paris Aéroport website and app.

The baggage process at Paris-Orly has been reorganised to improve operational robustness. The main result is the creation of the Baggage Operations Unit with a staff of around forty people who will be managed by Nathalie Grimon from the autumn. “We have grouped all our baggage operational skills within a single unit, with the aim of improving agility and fluidity, while basing this new organisation on continuous improvement”, explains Christophe Epiard, Head of Automated Airport Systems Maintenance within the Technical and Baggage Division. “I would like to thank Astrid Gambet, Operations Graduate, who is helping to make this new organisation a reality”. This division brings together the Baggage Room Coordinators, the Baggage Facility Managers and the Baggage Flow Experts. This position has been created to facilitate communication between the various network players, to support operational staff in the management of “baggage crises” and to actively contribute to process improvement.

THE REAL ESTATE DIVISION REVIVES ITS ANNUAL TRADITIONAL GARDEN PARTY

After a four-year hiatus, the Real Estate Division resurrected its traditional garden party on 4 July, bringing together all its employees and partners. The event, which took place in the Roissypole hotel area at Paris-Charles de Gaulle, was an opportunity for Director Marine Ulivieri to officially open the new facilities located at the heart of the hotel complex, which will benefit hotel guests, passengers, and airport users and employees alike. This is the first stage of the “off-site” hospitality strategy that the Real Estate Division is seeking to develop. In the future, a walking route will also be created to highlight the area’s iconic buildings, as well as a covered walkway under the taxiway opposite Concorde, with lighting effects.

MEAUX-ESBLY AERODROME: THE SKY’S THE LIMIT FOR FLY N’KISS

A wonderful day at Meaux-Esbly Aerodrome. More than 90 sick, disabled and disadvantaged children enjoyed their first flight in a light aircraft. Emotional times and a unique experience that, for just one day, allowed these children to dream big and forget the difficulties of their daily lives. The event was organised by the FLY n’KISS association, in partnership with the Air France Foundation, the UPCF flying club and the Paris-Le Bourget management team. “This activity once again demonstrates the benefits of our work and of ‘aerotherapy’”, explains Thomas Machado, co-founder of this registered public interest association. “We will be holding a second similar event at a Groupe ADP airfield in Etampes on 30 September.” Since the creation of FLY n’KISS in 2012, nearly 3,000 children have been able to sample the joys of flying.

At the end of June, Groupe ADP and Philippine Airlines (PAL) signed a letter of interest at the Paris Air Show to jointly explore the operational and commercial feasibility of launching a direct route between Manila and Paris by 2025. Over the next two years, Groupe ADP’s Aviation Development team will continue to work closely with the Philippine Airlines team to ensure that the airline chooses Paris as its future gateway to Europe. The airline, which no longer operates any direct routes to Europe following the recent cancellation of its Manila-London route, also signed a memorandum of understanding last month with aircraft manufacturer Airbus for the purchase of eight A350-1000s, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2025. This delivery is a prerequisite for the revival of Philippine Airlines’ direct flights to Europe. The next meeting between the teams will take place at the Routes World event, to be held this year in Istanbul in October.
