To celebrate the Paris Air Show (Salon International de l'Air et de l'Espace or SIAE in French), Régis Lacote, Managing Director of Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, invited his entire management team to the Air and Space Museum at Paris-Le Bourget. Nearly 200 employees attended the conference on 23 June, held at the heart of this iconic aeronautical centre. On the agenda for this meeting, introduced by Augustin de Romanet, Chairman and CEO of Groupe ADP, were preparations for the summer season, the operational plan for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the future prospects for France's leading airport. After a busy morning of discussions, the visitors were able to explore the air show and enjoy the aerial demonstrations.

A TRIAL TO COMBAT UNLICENSED TAXIS

Since 29 June, the Paris-Charles de Gaulle Terminals, Networks & Access, and Communications Divisions have been conducting a trial in Terminal 2E Arrivals to combat soliciting by unlicensed taxis, in close collaboration with State services and the service provider GSF. In the baggage reclaim area, between 7am & 11am and 6.30pm & 10.30pm, passengers can visit the clearly marked official taxi desk where customer service staff will look after them, providing them with a counterfoil and confirmed fares for journeys, some of which are regulated. They will then be escorted to Exit 10 where they can safely meet their taxi driver. This three-month trial may evolve on the basis of passenger feedback. Initial users have already expressed their satisfaction with this new service. At the same time, the system for alerting the public in the event of any issues has been strengthened, with the State services rolling out a rapid judicial response to perpetrators of this offence.

TOGETHER FOR SPORT

Sport took centre stage at Paris-Orly on 28 June. Nearly 150 young people and volunteers, recruited from surrounding areas for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, attended the event. The programme for the day included demonstrations of rhythmic and sports gymnastics and judo, discussions, disability awareness workshops, as well as opportunities for autographs and selfies with the champions. Two renowned judokas, Alexandre Iddir, Olympic team gold medallist in Tokyo, and Shirine Boukli, silver and gold medallist at the World Judo Championships and European Championships respectively, spoke about their careers and their experience of high-level sport. Another highlight was Kamel Saouchi, head coach of the French amputee football team, who took to the stage, alongside some of his French players, to talk about disability and inclusion.

PARIS-ORLY: JOURNEYS THROUGH ART

As part of the cultural focus in the terminals, two new exhibitions will be on show at Paris-Orly until summer 2025. Le Nuancier de Versailles sees Paris Aéroport renew its long-standing partnership with the Palace of Versailles, showcasing its splendour as part of a colourful exhibition. On show in the Gate F disembarkation corridor in Orly 4, 16 large images of paintings, statues, furniture and objets d'art, each illustrating a colour from the period, immerse passengers within the Palace and its gardens. On display in the area between Orly 3 and Orly 4, the Voyage au MAC VAL exhibition offers a taste of the Contemporary Art Museum in Val-de-Marne. It features 28 reproductions of works by internationally-renowned and up-and-coming artists including César, Christian Boltanski and Alain Séchas, with two reproductions of his "Les chats qui fument" outside the continuum piece.

CDG EXPRESS:

CDG Express has organised a series of meetings with experts for the infrastructure manager and builder teams; Group ADP and SNCF Réseau. The first session saw journalist Gilles Dansart and geography professor Pierre Ageron discuss with some thirty employees the challenges of air-rail intermodality and the way in which it will transform the regions and the perception of airports. The arrival of new transport lines (CDG Express, metro and TGV) will boost the attractiveness of the airports and their links with surrounding areas. This will help the airports become genuine living spaces that benefit residents and passengers alike.
