As part of their commitment to contribute to the energy and environmental transition, Groupe ADP’s Innovation Hub and Sustainable Development Division came up with the Better Than Plastic challenge. The aim was to identify alternatives to single-use plastic for two airport operations: the bags used for liquid and gel products at security checkpoints, and the bin bags used by airport cleaning staff. The winners TIPA Compostable Packaging and Alternative Plastics will soon be able to try out their solutions, which are made from algae harvested in France and plant materials sourced in Europe. With support from the operational teams, start-ups will be able to test their innovations in real-life conditions at Paris-Orly.

FINAL OF THE "FÉMINISONS" COMPETITION,
FEMALE STUDENTS IN THE SPOTLIGHT

The prize-giving ceremony for the "Féminisons les métiers de l'aéronautique" [Feminising the aeronautics professions] competition was held at the Paris Air Show. Following Groupe ADP’s signature in 2022, 3 new companies have signed the charter: Transdev, Corsair and Thales on 20 June. Credit: Sébastien Aubry for Groupe ADP.

At the Paris Air Show (Salon International de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace in French), the association Air Emploi Espace Orientation, in partnership with some fifteen companies, hosted the prize-giving ceremony for the national “Féminisons les métiers de l'aéronautique” competition. This is the first time that Groupe ADP has participated in this biennial competition designed to promote technical careers to young women. This year, seven teams were in the running and it was the pupils from Jacqueline Romilly secondary school in Magny-le-Hongre, sponsored by Air France, who claimed 1st prize. Although the girls from Jorissen secondary school in Drancy, supported by the Group, did not reach the final, they received encouragement from their mentors Rachel Delorme (CSR Manager at ECP) and Isa Bernardino (Deputy Equipment Maintenance Manager at CDG9), supporters of this initiative.

At the end of 2022, the Innovation Hub established a community for the members of Groupe ADP's Innovation network. Named the Innovation Pioneers Community, its aim is to internationalise the innovation process so as to meet the objectives of the "2025 Pioneers" strategic roadmap. Led by Erwan Le Roux, Project Manager in the Innovation Division, this 50-strong community brings together the Innovation Officers from the Paris airports, the Group's divisions and those operating within our assets (TAV Airports, AIG, MZLZ and Ravinala Airports), as well as those in the process of being integrated, such as GMR and Nuevo Pudahuel. Plans are underway to provide support through the Open Innovation approach, organising workshops, conferences and an annual meeting to share experiences, as well as accelerating the mobilisation of local ecosystems and setting up experiments with start-ups, a quarter of which will be industrialised.
