A SUCCESSFUL SAFETY AT WORK FORTNIGHT

World Day for Safety and Health at Work took place on 28 April. For the occasion, the Occupational Risk Prevention Unit (DRHTP) and the Prevention Network organised several events at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports and in the functional divisions to raise awareness of occupational safety and to discuss everyday behaviours. The aim was to work together to strengthen a culture of prevention, improve working conditions and avoid serious accidents. The results were positive, with nearly 400 employees taking part in some forty risk hunts, workshops to raise awareness of the importance of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), and a conference on “Neuroscience and a culture of prevention”.

On 19 April, Edward Arkwright, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Groupe ADP, and Thierry de Sévérac, ECP (Engineering & Capital Projects) Director, officially opened the CanaMarne construction site in the presence of numerous elected officials from the communes of Seine-et-Marne and the project's sponsors, and were able to watch the first micro-tunnelling machines being put into action. Launched in February, the aim of this project is to extend the existing water discharge pipeline, which links the Renardières basin to the Réneuse, to the river Marne. The work, which will last two years, will involve the construction of a 9.4 km underground watertight pipeline between the current discharge point for rainwater at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport and the Marne. The extension of the pipeline will cross the communes of Gressy, Messy, Claye-Souilly and Annet-sur-Marne, improve the safety of the Renardières basin, and reduce the risk of flooding in the event of extreme rainfall.

All together under the banner of Paris FC! A fans' collective has been created within Groupe ADP to support Paris FC. This initiative is part of the partnership with this Ligue 2 football club, through which employees can already claim two free tickets for home games at the Charléty stadium in Paris. Some 25 employees are already members of this supporters' group, a further demonstration of Groupe ADP’s commitment to sport as official partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

TEL, AN ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTION FOR OPERATIONS AT PARIS-ORLY

A first for a European airport. An operational tool for monitoring carbon emissions in real time has been set up at Paris-Orly. TEL (Taxiing Emission Lab) is the result of a collaboration between the Operations Division and the Paris-Orly Division, with assistance from the ECP Division’s Laboratory. “This project required a year and a half of preparatory work before a simulation exercise could be carried out within the framework of the European SESAR Total Airport Management project and the subsequent use of the tool within the APOC”, explains Brankica Pesic Le Foll, Airport Operations Project Manager. This solution enables the APOC ecosystem to incorporate an environmental overview into its operational management. “TEL is a major step forward in the roll-out of the Green Orly strategy, as it allows us to define the performance and impact of aircraft taxiing in relation to our 2025 Pioneers objective to reduce our CO2 footprint by 10% by 2025”, emphasises Kamal Amri, Airport Operations Manager within ORYO.

A cybersecurity expertise mission was carried out in Madagascar on behalf of Ravinala Airports, operator of Antananarivo and Nosy Be airports. IT Security Project Manager Julien Pigeau (DSIR) visited the Red Island as part of the ongoing improvement of Ravinala Airports' integrated management system and the strengthening of its information security activities. The aim of this mission, carried out jointly with Ravinala Airports' Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), was to encourage the implementation of an ISMS (Information Security Management System) with a view to obtaining ISO 27001 certification. This exchange, the third in Madagascar, illustrates the global cybersecurity approach of Groupe ADP, leading the CISO teams to support the Group's subsidiaries in their security efforts.

HEAVY SUMMER TRAFFIC EXPECTED

Despite the 23.6% increase in airfares in France in the first quarter of 2023, airlines are experiencing strong demand for summer 2023. Although they have managed to generate higher revenue than before the crisis, some industry leaders are highlighting the risk of European airports becoming saturated during the high season.

KOREAN AIR TO OFFER A380 FLIGHTS TO PARIS BY THE END OF JUNE

This will be a unique rotation for the Korean airline, which will "trial" the return of its Airbus A380 between Seoul and Paris at the end of June, a route currently offered using a Boeing 747-8i. On 29 June only, its super jumbo will depart Seoul-Incheon at 12:20 pm, arriving at Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 6:30 pm. The return flight is scheduled for 9:00 pm, landing the next day at 3:45 pm.

ELECTROFUEL, A KEY DRIVER OF DECARBONISATION

By 2050, 63% of aviation fuel will have to be sustainable, of which at least 28% will be electrofuels, according to the rules set by the European Union. Electrofuels, also known as e-fuels, are produced by combining hydrogen with carbon dioxide (CO2) captured from the air or, for the moment, from industrial flue gases. Their combustion is therefore climate neutral, as the CO2 emitted comes from particles already in the atmosphere and not from hydrocarbons extracted from the subsoil.

AIR FRANCE AND KLM LAUNCH BUSINESS LIGHT FARES

Air France and KLM are launching their Business Light fares, which allow passengers to benefit from the priority services of Business Class, but without the usual ground services, i.e. access to the pre-flight lounge, hold baggage or seat selection prior to check-in. This fare is currently only available on selected destinations.

RATP DEV WINS THE CONTRACT TO MANAGE ORLY AIRPORT RAIL STATION

Île-de-France Mobilités has awarded the contract to manage the future Orly Airport railway station, served by Line 14 south and Line 18, to RATP Dev, a subsidiary of RATP, which already operates the Orlyval service. Line 14 South, which will serve Paris-Orly Airport, will be the only Grand Paris Express lane open for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and will thus play an important role in transporting the large numbers of visitors.
